My writing journey began in 2001,when I had a vivid dream involving my husband outside our NJ home in the arms of a red head. I awoke in such a state, with emotions set to explode. I was ready to wake my husband and smack him! When I calmed down, I wrote down the details of the seemingly real dream.
The quick notes scribbled down that night, birthed a desire in me to one day write a book. It certainly took me long enough! By September 2008, I had to give up homeschooling our three boys, to enter the workforce, as a supplement to our struggling family budget. But, by January 2009, my husband was laid off. I found myself spiraling into a deep depression. I was merely existing. My boys were growing up and did not need me as much. My days consisted of 8 to 10 hours at work, then home to sleep, and back to work again. I did not even fully appreciate the fact that my husband was cooking, and doing laundry!
It was then that the Lord taught me an important lesson.
I could choose to wallow in my pit of misery and depression, or I could choose to do something about that story He had planted in my heart 8 years before. I chose to spend every moment I could, pouring my heart into a story which is now called “The Kiss”. It took me three years to write, then two years to edit and another two years to flounder about in search of a literary agent, and publisher. All the while God worked on my heart.
I finally published “The Kiss” in June of 2016, and honestly, it was like giving birth all over again!
The amazing journey has been one of growth and understanding.
The main theme in “The Kiss” is one of Forgiveness. Since that time I have also been privileged to publish my mother's story called "Over the Lotion", describing her journey from growing up in South Africa, and being married to an alcoholic, to coming to America! Also as a catharsis, I wrote "Glimpses Beyond the Veil" which tells the story of the last two months I got to spend with my mother before she died and those glimpses she shared with me that she was seeing beyond the veil.
